The Life of a Shutterfly

The Volcano in the Sea of SandOctober 2013Mount Bromo in Indonesia is actually an active volcano that sits in a valley. Or to be more accurate, in a Sea of Sand. Volcanic sand, that is.
That dusty trail you see weaving through the plain in the first photo is actually made up of dozens (maybe even hundreds) of jeeps ferrying tourists to the base of Mount Bromo. After snapping these photos, I promptly hopped back into our jeep to join the seemingly never-ending line.

Shadow horsesOctober 2013This was taken with my HTC One, in Mount Bromo in Indonesia. To get to the base of the mountain, where we then needed to further climb a staircase to the peak, we had to ride little horses up soft, black, volcanic sand.
I looked to my right and saw the shadows of my horse and my sister’s horse behind me, and quickly whipped out my phone to capture the moment.

LinesSeptember 2013This was taken at the old Bras Basar Complex in Singapore using my HTC One. I just love clean sharp lines and the wonderful geometric shapes they can make. Side note: I also love contrasts between light and dark. This photo is not edited in any way and simply plays on the late afternoon sun and the shadows of the building. View Larger
